Saddlescombe is a two-baton changeover.
Runners should cross the A283 south of Steyning by using the traffic island close to the exit from the layby. Any runner seen to cross at any other point will be deemed to be taking a short cut and a safety risk, and so will be subject to a substantial time penalty.
No non-runners should go up to the A283 crossing.
Non-runners walking between the car park and the changeover point should use the gate onto the Downslink path in the corner of the field and walk round onto the SDW. They should be aware of runners finishing Leg 7 and give them clear passage.
