About The Trig Point
I’m Jamie Hinks – I run for Arena 80 AC, and I built The Trig Point because I couldn’t find a South Downs racing resource that went into the detail I wanted.
Who’s behind this
I’ve run the South Downs Way Relay twice, in 2024 and 2025, and I’m vice captain of Arena 80 AC, the club that enters three SDWR teams every year. In 2026 I completed the South Downs Way 100.

Why the site exists
Professionally, I work in content and digital marketing, which meant I’d spent enough time looking at thin, generic “top 10 races” listings to know exactly what I didn’t want to build. Most race directories are compiled from entry-fee data and a paragraph of filler; almost none of them are written by someone who has actually stood at Beacon Hill Beeches at mile 11 of the South Downs Way 100, or run the South Downs Way Relay’s legs on a recce months before race day. That gap – between what exists and what would actually be useful to a runner planning their season – is what The Trig Point is trying to close.
How the site is put together
Not every race on this site gets the same treatment, and I think it’s worth being upfront about that rather than pretending otherwise.
For races I’ve run myself – currently the South Downs Way Relay and the South Downs Way 100 – you’ll find genuinely deep, first-hand content: route description mile by mile, aid station and crew point breakdowns, the kind of detail that only comes from having been there. These are the pages I’d want to read myself before signing up.
For every other race in the South Downs National Park, you’ll find an honest, structured directory entry – the facts you need (distance, date, entry, elevation, organiser) and a link straight to the official race page. I’d rather tell you clearly what a race involves and point you to the people who actually run it than pad out a page with content I haven’t earned the right to write.
As I run more of these races, more of them will get the deep treatment. That’s the plan.
