Only the clearly waymarked SDW route to the south of Old Winchester Hill is permitted
(SU 64343 20523, talking.airbag.bloomers). Runners seen taking the route directly over the top of the hill will be risking a time penalty which significantly exceeds the advantage gained.
At the disused railway bridge (SU 62422 21160, outgrown.dips.animal), any route over or under the bridge is permitted. After the railway bridge follow SDW signposts for walkers. Either the riverbed or the path to the right can be used.
